RCL Homestretch

by Josh Swain

With two weeks left in our first season, only one team has clinched a playoff spot while several others are extremely close to doing so. Here I will outline what's at stake in the last two weeks.

RCL Tommy Lasorda

Dallas     82-68
Ann Arbor  80-70 - 2 GB
New York   78-72 - 4 GB

Each team has 12 games left apiece and while New York sits four games back, anything is possible. The remaining schedules are as follows:

Dallas: 3  @ SEA, 3  @ ANN, 3 vs NOT, 3  @ NEW
Ann A:  2  @ SOC, 3  @ DAL, 3  @ NEW, 3 vs NOT
New Y:  3 vs MIN, 3 vs NOT, 3  @ ANN, 3  @ DAL

In a crazy turn of events, they all have a series with each other and a series with Nottinghamshire. Dallas gets division leading Seattle, while Ann Arbor gets 92-win Minnesota and New York gets bottom feeder So Cal. Will that be enough difference to make up four games? This should go down to those important divisional games.

RCL Tony La Russa

Minnesota  92-57
Monteal    85-64 - 7 GB

Each team has 13 games remaining. Seven games back may not be impossible, but it is certainly an improbable feat.

Minnesota: 3 @ NEW, 3 @ SDT, 3  @ GRE, 4 @ MONT
Montreal:  3 @ CAR, 3 @ GRE, 3 vs SDT, 4 @ MIN

A lot of road games for both teams. They do not play each other, and, really, if Minnesota doesn't completely tank, the division is theirs.

RCL Bobby Cox

Seattle     90-59
Montgomery  83-67 - 7.5 GB

Much like the La Russa division this one is nearly sewn up.

Seattle:    3 vs DAL, 3 vs SOC, 3 vs MONT, 4  @ CAR
Montgomery: 3  @ GRE, 3  @ CAR, 3 vs SEA,  3 vs SOC

Montgomery needs to win, win and win. Even if they go 12-0, Seattle would have to finish 5-8 just to tie.

RCL Wild Card

Montreal    85-64
Montgomery  83-67 - 2.5 GB
Ann Arbor   80-70 - 5.5 GB

Montreal:   3 @ CAR, 3 @ GRE, 3 vs SDT, 4  @ MIN
Montgomery: 3 @ GRE, 3 @ CAR, 3 vs SEA, 3 vs SOC
Ann Arbor:  2 @ SOC, 3 @ DAL, 3  @ NEW, 3 vs NOT

Statistically Montreal and Montgomery have similar schedules, each playing three teams under .500 and playing the division leader. This should be a fun race to watch. With Ann Arbor only two games back of Dallas for the division lead, a run by them could lead to that division title which would leave Dallas in this group competing for the wild card.
