Nottinghamshire (TIMES) - 1 May 2017. Nottinghamshire skipper the Ol' Gaffer has announced that the Outlaws have acquired the services of former Cy Young winner Rich Bussell from the Maple Marauders in exchange for 3-time gold glove, 2-time all-star, midfielder Danny Burris, Rule V acquisition C Billy Bishop and minor league RF Martin Petersen.
Sir William was quoted as saying "We hate to trade Danny who was a fan favorite and a key member of the squad. However, we are confident in Brendan's (Davis) to contribute at a high level both defensively and offensively. We felt he needed a regular opportunity with the first team. Obviously, the opportunity to acquire a Cy Young caliber pitcher was something the club felt was too good to pass up. Our rotation has struggled a bit and Rich will certainly add to the group's overall strength."
Rumors of further deals continue to persist at Trent Bridge, but for the moment, this deal looks to significantly strengthen the defending champs in the coming campaign.
