Blog Roundup: 2013 Season

Another season is in the books! Over the course of the 2013 Adult Baseball Season, The Dugout and the league's many team blogs produced over 100 posts (107, by my count). In case you ever feel like looking back, here is an roundup of all the blog posts on the 2013 season.

The ABL Dugout

Around the ABL provided coverage all season long: April 1-April 7April 8-April 14April 15-May 5May 6-May 26May 27-June 9June 10-June 23June 24-July 7July 12-July 25July 26-August 1August 2-August 8August 9-August 15August 16-August 22August 23-September 5September 6-September 19September 20-September 26, and September 27-September 29.

The Dugout provided lots of playoff coverage. Alex covered the Carolina Crush vs. Montreal Bandits Divisional Series: game one, game two, and games three through six. Mike covered the New York vs. Seattle Sasquatch Divisional Series: game one and game two. Steve covered the Eureka vs. Cabo San Lucas Divisional Series. I covered the Boston vs. Maple Divisional sereis: games one and two, game three, and game four. Coverage of the two League Championship Series (Seattle vs. Montreal and Eureka vs. Maple) may be found here. Recap of the Eureka Hornets vs. Montreal Bandits World Series is here.

We had fun writing about different teams in the on-going Team Tag Series: I reviewed the progress in South Carolina, Gary called the So Cal Republic the Wild Card in the Wild Card ; Mike interviewed So Cal manager Mike Hunt about the Boston Cardinals; Gray looked at the Georgia Ghost Busters; I analyzed the struggles in Minnesota; and Alex, in turn, analyzed the struggles in Las Vegas.

Steve continued his minor league coverage. We got a detailed prospect report on the talented Nottinghamshire system. We learned that Jacksonville prospect Larry Hickey dominated Single-A ball, that Seattle outfield prospect David Wall came out of nowhere to have a great season, and that young Ann Arbor pitching prospect Toyotomi Nagano looks forward to eating at Zingerman's.

William gave us rumors of potential Nottinghamshire deals here and here, covered the astounding leap forward made by the Nottinghamshire Outlaws, gave us the two keys to winning the Tommy Lasorda Division, and then covered the drama in that highly competitive division.

The Mile High Mustangs disappointed this season, and Ron has his season review.

The Oregon State Beavers won the College World Series. Jason also let us know to watch out for future stars from the Nippon Baseball LeagueCanadian Baseball League, and NCAA. (46)

Team Blogs

The Ann Arbor Barn Owls were excited about their bullpen in the pre-season, but it suffered injuries and then more injuries, but they're looking forward to next year.

The Cabo San Lucas Toreros began their new team blog by reviewing their banner 2012 and handing out seasonal awards.

At Eureka New from the Nest, we read about the Hornets' new look, hot start, youth injection, injury bug, and their first appearance in the post-season.

The Tornado Watch debated when to bring up top prospect Kazuhiko "Kodak" Kanno.

The Las Vegas Jokers, coming off an appearance in the World Series, looked to make some trades and then swung a deal the netted them Bob Rudyard. They have some bright prospects in the minors, were plagued by inconsistent performances, traded away Rudyard at the deadline, and generally had a season to forget.

The Maple Marauders Blog covered the team's performance in April, May, June, July, August, and September, when they clinched the Billy Martin Division.

The Minnesota Berserkers looked forward to opening day, started the season slowly, and analyzed what was going wrong with their season.

The Montreal Bandits came into the season looking to repeattraded for Bob Rudyard and Bob Reececould not sign Tom Becker to an extension; and, of course, won back-to-back titles.

The Mafia's Speak Easy Page kept us up-to-date on New York's poor April performance and strong May peformance, introduced us to rookie Bob Fry, reviewed the first half of the season, was hoping to improve at the trade deadline, and looked at the division play in the season's final month.

At Rumblings from the Forest, the Astroturf Blonde covered Nottinghamshire's preparations for the season, the predictions of the experts, the acquisition of Juan Fernández, and the Outlaws' strong first third of the season. Leslie Whitney won May's Rookie of the Month Award, and the Outlaws promoted prospect Juan Soto. You can read about their progress as of mid-season, in August (when they steal fans from the Tricky Trees), and in their season review.

Hopped on Baseball introduces itself, provides a portrait of Stan Sanders, covers San Diego's opening day lineup, and looks at San Diego's pitching staff.

The Seattle Sasquatch Weblog looks at its Single-A pitchers.

The Bomber Blast Report covered South Carolina's off-season transactions and amateur draft. It previewed the Bombers' season, reported a trade rumor and a press conference, welcomed Francisco Alfonso, reviewed their prospects, covered some exceptional performances from June and July, evaluated the season, and signed two young pitchers to extensions. However, ownership has been frustrated by poor attendance: might they relocate?
