First No-hitter of 2017

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE (Times) - June 8, 2017.  Game 3 of the key 3-game set against the Kansas City Tornadoes proved to be a magical match to the 40,000 plus who attended.  The home side had won the first two matches and the supporters were keen on completing the sweep.  Rich Bussell, the former Texan acquired earlier in the year from Maple was on the mound and turned in a masterful performance.

Bussell not hit the TML leading in runs scored.  His toughest opponent being former Outlaw John Byford who walked twice.  He also walked Stephen Everett and hit rookie sensation Oliver North.  However, Bussell struck out the side in the 5th, 7th and 9th innings in route to having 11 strikeouts.  The contest was close until late in the match as Nottinghamshire only led 1-0 into the 7th, before Jim Crawford's bases loaded 2-run single in the 7th gave the Outlaws and Bussell some breathing room.  Marty Silver's solo home run in the 8th capped the 4-0 victory and 3-game sweep of the Tornadoes in what could be a precursor to the ABL World Series.

Bussell is 4-1 with a 2.36 ERA since joining Nottinghamshire and the Ol' Gaffer is hopeful that this form continues as the Outlaws are playing their most difficult month.  They have already won series against New York, Kansas City and Las Vegas.  The upcoming opponents include, Eureka, Montreal, SoCal and Seattle, all playoff contenders.
